【摘要】:TheRockwellhardnessandRockwellsuperficialtestsareusefulwhenthetestspecimensaresufficientlythick(inrelationtotheindentorload)toensurethattheresultsarenotaffectedbytheflowofmetalonthesurfaceoftheanvil.Onasolidpiecetheflowofmetalontheundersurfacemaybedetectedbyabulgeormarking.Oncompositepieceswherethecontactmaterialsareattachedtobackingsofadifferentmaterial,thethicknesslimitationsimposedforasolidpieceshallapplytothecontactmaterialportionofsuchcompositepieces.Note18212;Asamatterofinformation,itmaybestatedthattestsonfinesilvershowedthatonannealedsampleshavingaRockwell15Thardnessof27,thereadingswerenotaffectedonthicknesses1/16in.(1.6mm)orover.Onthicknessesof1/32in.(0.8mm)Rockwell15Tscalereadingsof72andhigherwerenotaffected.Themicrohardnesstestisofquestionablesignificancewhenthemetallicphasesinamaterialaresolargethattheindentationdoesnotrepresentanaccurateaveragehardness.Sinteredcontactmaterialsusuallycontainsegregatesdifferinggreatlyinhardnessfromthematrixhardnessandmaydestroythevalidityofmicrohardnessreadings.OtheraspectsofsignificanceanduseshallbeasdescribedintheparticularASTMtestmethodused,aslistedinSection2.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthehardnessofmetallicmaterialsusedforelectricalcontacts.Rockwell,Rockwellsuperficial,Brinell,andmicrohardnesstestsareincluded,alongwithinformationonthelimitationsanduseofthesetests.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.ItistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtobecomefamiliarwithallhazardsincludingthoseidentifiedintheappropriateMaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)forthisproduct/materialasprovidedbythemanufactureer,toestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
